Selena Gomez And The Weeknd Split After 10 Months Of Dating, Is Just Bieber To Blame?
The rumors of a rough patch in the relationship between singer Selena Gomez and her boyfriend, the Weeknd, appear to be true, as the couple has called it quits.
As the Inquisitr reported earlier today, the pair was rumored to be headed toward splitsville after many of the Weeknd’s Twitter followers noticed over the weekend that the “Starboy” singer had unfollowed a number of Gomez’s close friends and family, including Selena’s mother, Mandy Teefey, and her manager.
According to E! News, Miss Gomez and the Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, have called it quits after just 10 months of dating. But the split wasn’t out of nowhere. A source close to the pair claims that the couple had been discussing moving on from each other as early as this summer.
The source goes on to say that the couple has been going through a rough patch in their relationship for a while now, but they have been very open and honest with each other about it. The pair didn’t want to see their relationship headed in the wrong direction, but there wasn’t much that either one could do about it. The same source also claims that the long-distance factor definitely played a role in the split.
Of course, the Weeknd has been busy on tour over the past couple of months, but People reports that Selena had always made an effort to make it to his shows when she was able to. It then became harder for the couple to stay connected when Selena went to New York to shoot her upcoming film, A Rainy Day in New York.
Gomez had been laying this past summer following health issues, which eventually turned into a kidney transplant. But recently, the “It Ain’t Me Singer” has been seen out and about in the public eye, including with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber.

HuffPost reports that Bieber and Gomez spent the whole day together on Sunday. Not only did the pair attend a church service together at Justin’s LA church, but they also enjoyed lunch together. Later in the evening, Justin was spotted arriving at Selena’s home, further fueling romance rumors.
