Anthony Rapp Steps Forward To Say That Kevin Spacey Made A Sexual Advance Toward Him When He Was Just 14

Hollywood is dealing with a lot of fallout in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, with many people coming forward with their own stories. The latest star to step forward about past sexual misconduct is Anthony Rapp of Star Trek: Discovery, who shared, during an interview, that Kevin Spacey had apparently made a sexual advance toward him when he was only 14-years-old.

In an interview with Buzzfeed News, Rapp shared that Spacey, who was 26-years-old at the time, made a pass at him after a party held at the latter’s apartment in 1986. According to the Star Trek actor, he was invited to the party by Spacey, even though he was underage at the time. He ended up attending by himself, and he was apparently the only person who was not an adult at the party.

Anthony Rapp shared that over the course of the evening, he grew bored and went into a bedroom in order to watch television. It was after midnight when he came to the realization that there was no one left from the party, it was also at this point that Kevin Spacey apparently came into the room, appearing to be drunk. Allegedly, Spacey picked up Rapp, much like a groom would pick up their bride, and then laid him back on the bed. The older actor is then said to have “climbed on top” of Anthony Rapp in a sexual manner.

As Variety reported, neither man said anything to each other at the time and Anthony Rapp was apparently able to “squirm away” from Kevin Spacey. While the Star Trek actor could not remember exactly how long Spacey was on top of him, Rapp was eventually able to get out from under the other man and leave the apartment.

Since that night, Anthony Rapp says he has not spoken to Kevin Spacey, and while he has told friends and family about what happened, this is the first time he has gone public. In fact, Rapp said that what actually prompted him to say something was all of the courageous men and women who have shared what happened to them, whether with Harvey Weinstein, or any other major player in Hollywood.

According to Anthony Rapp, he is not trying to “air a grievance,” but instead he is hoping to add another voice to the stories, and help shine a light on the many years of sexual misconduct that has been allowed to continue unchecked. He admits that he stayed silent about what happened to him, which contributed to the years of continued abuse, but he feels hopeful that in light of the many voices coming forward, people will start to take these matters seriously and really listen when someone says that they have been a victim.
