Shocking ‘Star Wars 8’ Theory About Kylo Ren’s Fate, Rey’s Heritage Finally Confirmed? [Spoilers]

There is no shortage of fan theories surrounding the characters in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Some are arguably far-fetched while others seem to be quite close to what will happen in the upcoming sequel. But is it possible that Kylo Ren will change his mind about the First Order just as Rey’s parentage is finally revealed in Episode VIII? The possibility actually comes from a reliable yet unexpected source.

The idea of Kylo Ren turning his back on the Dark Side has been out there since the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Some fans strongly believe that General Leia Organa was right about her son, as she claimed she still senses the Light in him. So will Kylo finally escape from Supreme Leader Snoke and join forces with his mother in The Last Jedi? Adam Driver has teased on a different side of his tormented character.

Adam Driver recently spoke to British GQ about Star Wars 8. The Girls actor casually spoke about his co-star, the late Carrie Fisher and even shared an awesome advise the veteran actress had once given him. However, it was Driver’s revelation about Kylo Ren’s true mindset that had people talking.

According to Adam Driver, Kylo Ren is not as tough as he appears to be, stating that “the person Kylo’s pretending to be on the outside is not who he is.” He then added that Kylo might only be pretending to be loyal to the First Order in Star Wars 8.

“He’s a vulnerable kid who doesn’t know where to put his energy, but when he puts his mask on, suddenly, he’s playing a role.”

Interestingly, the helmet that Kylo Ren wore on The Force Awakens appears to be destroyed in the final trailer for Star Wars 8. Unlike Episode VII, Kylo doesn’t wear the mask as often in The Last Jedi. It is possible that Snoke’s apprentice will embrace his own heritage and defy the Dark Side.

But what about Rey’s heritage? Adam Driver may have dropped some hints about Luke Skywalker’s new pupil, teasing on the girl from Jakku actually having royal blood in Star Wars 8.

“You have, also, the hidden identity of this princess who’s hiding who she really is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices.”

So does this confirm the theory of Rey being related to a Sith Lord? There have been speculations that Daisy Ridley’s character is actually a descendant of Darth Sidious, who once pretended to be the Emperor Palpatine. If she truly is a princess, there is a possibility that Rey’s identity and connection to the villain are being hidden for her own protection. Will she remember her heritage in Star Wars 8?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters on December 15.
