Kate Winslet’s Out Of This World Present: Ticket Into Space

What does Kate Winslet do after marrying the nephew of a billionaire? Apparently she flies off into outer space.

Winslet recently married Ned Rocknroll in a secret ceremony and now his billionaire uncle, Sir Richard Branson, has reportedly given Winslet a free ticket into space aboard his Virgin Galactic project.

Virgin Galactic tickets are currently selling for $200,000 each which is a drop in the bucket for Branson. To date the company has sold more than 530 seats aboard its upcoming 2013 space flights.

The hefty cost of each ticket comes with a special trip, a 60 mile voyage above Earth which lasts for approximately two hours. Winslet’s husband is believed to be a part-time employee of Virgin Galatic, he has not been confirmed as one of the passengers aboard Winslet’s flight.

While marrying Richard Branson’s nephew seems to have its perks, reports suggest that Winslet would have received the ticket either way. During Hurricane Irene Kate Winslet saved Branson’s mother, Eve, from a fire at an estate sale. In fact it was that fire that introduced Winslet to Rocknroll.

Kate Winslet won’t be the lone celebrity during the company’s inaugural flight, already with tickets in hand are Angelina Jolie, Ashton Kutcher and Russell Brand.

Advance tickets have been on sale for years, however the company’s voyage flight and subsequent jaunts into space have not been scheduled at this time.
