WWE Rumors: The Rock’s Odds To Win ‘Royal Rumble 2017’ Match Make Shocking Move

Will Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson be a part of the Royal Rumble 2018 match and could be he be considered a favorite to win? Just recently, a surprising move in The Rock’s odds to win that big match next January have some fans wondering what might happen. While two of the current roster members are the overall co-favorites to win, The Rock is someone who is no stranger to headlining WrestleMania matches. Here’s the latest on what WWE and The Rock may be cooking.

On Friday, it was reported that The Rock’s odds to win the upcoming Royal Rumble 2018 match had been cut in half. As WWE Leaks mentions, the former WWE Champion’s odds to win the 30-man over-the-top-rope elimination match were originally 80 to 1. However, his odds to win became even better as they just recently surged to 40 to 1 odds.

That puts “The Brahma Bull” into the top 30 superstars on the odds, although he’s tied with a few other superstars with those 40 to 1 odds. One of those is The Undertaker, whom a lot of fans think may be done with his wrestling career, while the other is NXT’s Killian Dain. All three of these competitors still seem like longshots to be in the match or even win it, although Dain participated in this past year’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 33 and was amongst the final competitors eliminated.

It’s being speculated by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer that the main reason for The Rock’s odds seeing the recent surge they have is his potential booking. There’s been talk that there will be a special referee involved in the upcoming Jinder Mahal vs. Brock Lesnar match at Survivor Series. While John Cena was the first superstar mentioned, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin have recently been mentioned as well. The recent behind these stars being pitched as potential refs for the match is to help improve Jinder’s overall exposure as a top superstar.

As far as the Royal Rumble 2018 match favorites to win go, they still remain John Cena and Roman Reigns. These two fan favorites are listed with odds of 9 to 4 to win the match. AJ Styles is next at 7 to 2 odds, followed by Seth Rollins at 6 to 1. Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe are tied with odds of 10 to 1. In fifth place on the odds, Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor are tied with odds of 12 to 1.

The 2018 edition of WWE’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 28th, 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
