In the latest WWE rumors, it has been revealed that Ronda Rousey is set to participate in a huge match at WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view next year. Fans have been seeing teases here and there that the UFC star would be transitioning to the professional wrestling world. Now, one of the insiders in the professional wrestling business has a feel for what will go down. It looks to be the epic sort of match that fans have been waiting for too.
Bleacher Report mentions that Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter is saying Rousey will be ready to go for WrestleMania when it hits New Orleans, Louisiana, next April. She’s set to participate in a major match and she won’t be doing so alone. Instead, that rumored “Four Horsewomen” of UFC versus “Four Horsewomen” of WWE seems to be on the match card schedule. There had been rumors this match might happen as early as November’s Survivor Series, but it appears there are different plans for the match card.
That means at Mania, it will be Rousey teaming with her MMA pals Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir. They’ll take on WWE’s foursome of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Sasha Banks on “the grandest stage of them all.” This could make for one of the “biggest” matches in some time, as the women’s division continues to push into new territory.
Back in early August, WWE personality and commentator Jim “JR” Ross told TMZ he believed that Rousey’s a big star and would certainly be working at a WrestleMania one day. Quite possibly, WWE might enlist JR along with a women’s Hall of Famer such as Lita or Trish Stratus to call the match, but that’s still a good time away for now.
With that said, fans will also be hoping that Rousey learns enough during her wrestling training with current WWE Cruiserweight star Brian Kendrick in order to work this match. It’s been said that all four of the MMA women have been training in different places to get up to speed on what’s needed for an effective presentation in the ring. Still, it’s expected there could be some botches and bad spots in a match involving four newcomers. Shayna Bazler participated in the Mae Young Classic Tournament and made it all the way to the finals, so that should help. It’s possible that she might see more time in the ring than her teammates, although Rousey is considered the top star as far as publicity goes here.
It will also be helpful that several of the competitors on the other side of the ring can put on an effective match. They may need to carry their opponents at some points, but hopefully, everything can come together to make for an exciting spot for the women participating in this WrestleMania 34 bout. Either way, it will bring a new level of excitement and buzz to the women’s division to showcase the talented superstars involved in the continued revolution.
WWE fans, are you excited at the prospect of this match? Do you think it will go forth and do well enough in front of the fans or fail to deliver?
