‘Roseanne’ Revival: Producer Gives First Behind-The-Scenes Look From The Set Of Roseanne Barr’s ABC Reboot

Roseanne Barr and the cast of her ABC reboot are back in their Lanford, Illinois home—except it’s on a studio lot in California. Production for the highly anticipated Roseanne reboot has started, and a producer for the show is now giving the first behind-the-scenes look at the ABC reboot. Days after ABC released a photo of the Roseanne cast at their first table read, the show’s co-producer, Whitney Cummings, posted a series of photos from the sitcom’s set on her Instagram account.

Cummings took to social media to post photos of several members of the Roseanne cast, including Sara Gilbert and Lecy Goranson, who played sisters Darlene and Becky Conner on the long-running ABC comedy. The Roseanne producer also posed for a snap with actor Michael Fishman, who plays youngest Conner child, DJ, and she even gave a shout out to leading lady Roseanne Barr and her TV sister, Laurie Metcalf, as they hung out on the studio lot.

In addition to the still photos, the Roseanne producer also posted a video of the Roseanne cast being announced as stars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and more were introduced to an excited studio audience during a taping. The clip shows that not much has changed with the décor of the Conners’ house in the past 20 years. Let’s hope they at least have a flat-screen TV by now!

Speaking of the Conners’ dated home décor, Cummings even posed for a snap herself as she sat on the Conners’ couch, which is still draped with the clan’s telltale crocheted afghan 20 years after the original series signed off.

In addition to producer Whitney Cummings’ photos, news series star Emma Kenney shared a photo from the set, where she appears to be a dead-ringer for her TV mom, Sara Gilbert. Kenney, who will play Darlene Conner’s teen daughter Harris, posed with newcomer Jayden Rey, who plays DJ’s daughter, on the set of the Roseanne reboot.

Little is known about the storylines for the Roseanne reboot. With John Goodman back, it has been confirmed that his character Dan Conner’s death in the original Roseanne series finale will be ignored. In addition, several new characters have been introduced as the Conners’ grandkids. The first episode for the Roseanne reboot is reportedly titled “Twenty Years to Life.”

The eight-episode Roseanne reboot stars Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, Lecy Goranson, and Sarah Chalke as well as newcomers Kenney, Rey, and Ames McNamara, who will play Darlene’s son. Notably missing from the cast is Johnny Galecki, who played Darlene’s husband David Healy on the original series. Fans hope to see the Big Bang Theory star reprise his role on Roseanne. Sara Gilbert told TV Line producers are in “productive talks” with Johnny and “are hopeful it will work out.”

The Roseanne revival will premiere in spring 2018 on ABC.
