Katie Holmes’ Pixie Cut: Actress Explains Reason Behind Her Shocking New Hairdo

Katie Holmes’ pixie cut has taken center stage last week, causing shocked fans to react in ways that we can only imagine. Now, she is finally clearing the air about it, revealing the real reason and the inspiration for the new do.

One week ago, the 38-year-old Dawson’s Creek alum reluctantly debuted her new hairstyle as she was going through security checks for her flight bound to New York at the Los Angeles International Airport. Based on a report from the Daily Mail, the actress tried to conceal her new look with a hat but was later forced to remove it to comply with airport security protocol.

Now, Suri Cruise’s mom is finally revealing why she parted with her lustrous long mane. Speaking to People, Holmes revealed that the main reason for her “edgy” look was for a film she is starring in and explained that her role was a “warrior” which is why she needed the transformation.

“It’s for a role. I’m getting ready to play a woman in a movie called The Doorman. She’s an ex-Marine and she’s a warrior. I’m excited. I’m training. I’m sore.”

According to the outlet, Jamie Foxx’s 38-year-old lady love has teamed up with Hollywood stylist DJ Quintero to achieve the gorgeous Katie Holmes pixie cut.

Speaking to People, Quintero revealed the inspiration behind the look and what it took to achieve it.

“We were trying to find a balance between something feminine but kick**s cause she’s working really hard — her body looks incredible,” the stylist explained.

“She really wanted it to move on camera so it was actually like three haircuts. We did it over the weekend and it kind got shorter and shorter and shorter.”

While the new do shocked many, it wasn’t the first time Katie got a short haircut. In fact, she sported the iconic Katie Holmes bob cut in 2008 which she got because of more practical reasons.

Speaking to InStyle, Suri Cruise’s mommy admitted that while she had never had short hair before, she is loving her bob cut because it provided her with the ease of not constantly worrying about messy hair.

“I never had a bob before, and I was a new mom at the time, and I was tired of dealing with long hair — I just wanted something easier.”

Now, Katie Holmes’ pixie cut is looking to be as popular as her previous short do that gossipers even opted to link her hair style with her rumored current relationship with Jamie Foxx. According to the Hollywood Life, the 49-year-old actor and musician is “turned on” by his lady love’s buzz cut.

“It’s fun and sexy, he loves it. He’d actually like to see her go even shorter, he thinks she should rock a buzz cut next. He’s always said she looks good with her hair short because it shows off her amazing cheekbones,” the outlet’s source revealed, adding that Foxx likes the variety.
