Jason Lobo From ‘Edge of Alaska’ Suffers Serious Burns While Escaping Cabin Fire
Jenny Rosenbaum, who is part of the Edge of Alaska cast, posted to her Facebook page that just before midnight on Monday, October 23, Jason woke up and realized his cabin was on fire. He barely escaped with his life, and is in the hospital with serious burns in Anchorage, Alaska. The cabin burned to the ground and, tragically, he lost his dog Achilles along with all his possessions.
Mark Wacht, another cast member of the popular series, posted to the Edge of Alaska Facebook group that the smell of smoke woke Jason up. He opened his bedroom door and was “engulfed in a ball of flames coming from his living room.” He ran through the flames to get out and suffered severe burns. At this time, the extent of those injuries are unknown, so check back for updates.
A GoFundMe account was set up by Johnny McGrath from McCarthy, which is the small town featured on Edge of Alaska. Money raised will go toward helping Jason build a new cabin. Winter is rapidly approaching in Alaska, and the post states that now is the time to act. Jason’s friends are also reaching out to other outlets to raise additional funding for tools, hardware, and lumber. These hardy Alaskans always pull together when someone is in need, and it looks as though Jason has a lot of support to help him on the path toward healing and rebuilding.

“If you have ever met Jason you would learn quickly he would never hesitate to give the shirt off of his back. That is what we are prepared to do,” McGrath states. “With our sweat and skills we can put together something that Jason can rebuild from.”
On the previous episode of Edge of Alaska, Jason was bringing in windows he hoped to use as barter after a severe storm called a “Williwaw” did a lot of damage to homes in and around McCarthy. Discovery’s Edge of Alaska page states that Jason was looking for a real sense of community, and he definitely found that in McCarthy. He created a homestead filled with lots of animals, and is a skilled bush pilot. His bio goes on to state that Jason personifies “where there’s a will, there’s a way,” and that statement will undoubtedly ring true in the weeks and months ahead.
