Sherin Mathews: Adoptive Mother, Sini Mathews, Reportedly Still Not Cooperating With Police, Has New Attorney

Sherin Mathews’ adoptive mother, Sini Mathews, is reportedly still not cooperating with police and has a new attorney after her previous attorney, Kent Starr, allegedly decided to no longer represent her. A Facebook page set up for finding the once-missing and now-deceased 3-year-old Richardson, Texas, girl Sherin Mathews shared on Tuesday that Sini Mathews’ original attorney is “no longer representing her,” a statement that was confirmed in a new report on the Dallas Morning News. Meanwhile, reports are also still surfacing that Sini Mathews is not cooperating with police in their ongoing investigation into the true cause of Sherin Mathews’ death.

FirstPost, out of India, where Sherin Mathews was adopted by Richardson, Texas, residents Wesley and Sini Mathews just over a year ago in June of 2016, published a report on Thursday that reiterates the fact that “more arrests are possible” as police continue to try to unravel details surrounding the girl’s death. Sherin Mathews had been missing for two weeks before her body was found in a culvert near the Mathews’ family Richardson, Texas, home. After Sherin Mathews’ identity was confirmed on Tuesday, her adoptive father, Wesley Mathews, 37, told police a different story regarding Sherin’s disappearance and death.

Wesley Mathews has since been arrested and charged in the death of Sherin Mathews, as he later confessed to police that he allegedly forcefully fed Sherin milk in the family’s garage until she choked, according to NBC News on Thursday. However, social media seems to be pointing fingers at Sherin’s adoptive mother, Sini Mathews, who reportedly aided police in helping to identify the child’s remains but has since allegedly stopped cooperating with police. Recent social media posts suggest that Sini Mathews, not Wesley Mathews, is allegedly responsible for Sherin Mathews’ death, which some Twitter users say is the reason that Sini Mathews is “hiding from police.”

One comment on Twitter, referring to Sini Mathews, said that “even her lawyer has dumped her,” after news began to surface on Tuesday that attorney Kent Starr reportedly decided to no longer represent Sherin’s adoptive mother. The Dallas Morning News wrote on Tuesday that Sini Mathews’ new attorney, Mitch Nolte, publicly stated that his client has no plans to provide further comments or “interviews to police at this time,” leading social media to assume that Sini Mathews has something to hide and Wesley Mathews is allegedly covering for her. Several comments on Twitter under the hashtag #SiniMathews continue to speculate what involvement, if any, that Sini had in the death of her adoptive daughter, Sherin Mathews.

Some Twitter users are speculating that Sini Mathews is allegedly making Wesley Mathews a “scapegoat,” adding that Wesley’s most recent story “does not add up.” A search for hashtag #SherinMathews on Twitter brings up one user’s comment that says people in Wesley and Sini Mathews’ church allegedly witnessed Sini slap Sherin Mathews across the face — an accusation that was reportedly confirmed via a live video on the Where is Sherin Mathews Facebook page on October 19. CBS DFW shared on Wednesday that the Richardson community is mourning the death of Sherin Mathews, and several residents “remain skeptical” about Wesley Mathews’ account of Sherin’s death, saying that “his story keeps changing” and “doesn’t make sense.”

CBS DWF goes on to note that hired attorney Kent Starr is “no longer working” for Sini Mathews, and Sini Mathews “has yet to give her account of what happened the night her daughter died.”
