Johnny Depp: Star ‘Should Keep Mouth Shut,’ Production Company Slammed For Showcasing Star In Ads For Film,

Johnny Depp has slowly been sliding off the list of most respected and notable actors in Hollywood for a number of reasons, but the biggest blow to the star’s current reputation still revolves around the allegations made against the star by his now-ex-wife, Amber Heard.

Depp denied the allegations and the charges were dismissed ahead of the divorce being finalized, yet the damage to the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s career has been done. From critics speaking out over the recent Dior ads within which Johnny stars and piping up over the manner that the actor takes the spotlight in the ads for his latest film, Murder On the Orient Express, Depp just can’t catch a break.

Ben Pearson of Slash Film scrawls the headline “Johnny Depp Should Keep His Mouth Shut,” in a piece reviewing the initial clip released for Johnny’s latest film. Pearson then goes on to explain why it is that he feels the actor should take a back seat for the initial reveal of the film teasers.

“Accusations of abuse against Johnny Depp are well-documented and have permeated the cultural consciousness. Even before the Harvey Weinstein scandal, public perception of Depp had dropped off dramatically, and many have denounced Warner Bros. for bringing him into the fold for one of that studio’s biggest franchises, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

Pearson goes on to remind that, due to Johnny Depp’s recent “off-screen behavior,” it’s becoming harder for former fans and movie buffs to “turn a blind eye,” adding that this is “good news.” The contributor then notes how the very clip used is one that makes Depp seem “like a predator,” and raises the question as to why Fox would use the specific clip as a debut to sell their film, knowing the negativity surrounding Johnny Depp’s recent past.

Additional social media posts describe Depp as “creepy” in the said clip that was released by Fox.

The clip referred to shows Depp hovering in an intimidating manner over the character played by Michelle Pfeiffer. It is worth noting that movie-goers, who are aware of recent allegations of abuse against Depp, would not be entirely enticed to run and see a film that showcases this within advertisements for the film, based on the classic novel by Agatha Christie.

Unfortunately for Depp, things are remaining quite stagnant in regard to career, love and his current financial legal battle. Johnny has been embroiled in an ongoing suit against his former management team over mismanagement and fraud allegations. Most recently the actor has launched a suit against his former legal team for conspiracy to commit fraud, as Deadline relays, in the amount of $30 million.
