Woman Allegedly Tied Plastic Bag Over 2-Year-Old’s Head, Sent Photo To Grandmother

An Ohio woman allegedly tied a plastic bag around her 2-year-old daughter’s head for 30 minutes and texted the picture to the father’s mother.

The toddler’s grandmother had gone to the North Hill Police Department Sunday with the shocking photo of what appears to be a little girl lying down on a yellow pillow with a plastic grocery bag over her head. The mother, Queridea Young, had purportedly sent the message with the photo, saying that the bag had been over the child’s head for over half an hour.

According to WVCB, the 24-year-old woman sent another message 45 minutes later, complaining that she was tired of taking care of the girl and if the father’s relatives continued to bring her around, the child would wind up dead.

Young went on to express her anger that the toddler’s father was spending money on another woman and that his family had refused to call him to order.

When police arrived at Young’s Hamilton Avenue apartment complex where the crime purportedly took place, the 24-year-old denied the crime, adding that she downloaded the photo from the internet. However, after a quick search of the apartment, police found pillows that matched the ones in the photo. The law enforcement officers also said the couch in the apartment looked like the one in the picture.

The Georgian News is reporting that the Ohio woman appeared before a judge on Monday after being held over the weekend on a child endangering charge at a county jail. The judge set the 24-year-old woman’s bond at $25,000 and ordered her to wear an electronic monitoring device upon release.

The child is with the father after a police statement said, “Ms. Young is a danger to the well being and health of her child.” A neighbor, Stephanie Johnson, speaking to Fox 19 said she was stunned beyond belief that a mother could do that to her child.

The child’s grandmother, Venus White, insists that despite Young’s bizarre behavior, she is a good mother. White said the 24-year-old woman probably had a mental breakdown and needed all the help that she could get to mend.

“This right here is out of character…but she is a good mom. She’s not a bad mother.”
