Jaclyn Truman Arrested: Florida Teacher Accused Of Having Sex ‘Multiple Times’ With Female Student

Jaclyn Truman is under arrest this week after police said the 30-year-old teacher carried on a two-month relationship with a 15-year-old female student including having sex “multiple times.”

The Florida teacher was arrested on Friday, the New York Post reported. Truman had already been placed on leave from her job at Lake Howell High School, where she had been teaching this year. According to the New York Post, officials from Child Protective Services had contacted the school after allegations against Truman surfaced.

Truman ultimately resigned from her position this week and turned herself in to police. Officials said Truman had been cooperating with police regarding the investigation.

The alleged relationship took place at Hagerty High School, where Truman was working as a long-term substitute teacher.

Before the allegations that she had a relationship with a student, Jaclyn Truman had a long history working in the district, dating back to when she was 18-years-old. According to the Orlando Sentinel, she started working for Seminole County Public Schools in 2005 as an instructional assistant at Lyman High School. She became a teacher three years later and worked there until 2013 when she left to take a job as the coordinator for mentored and pastoral counseling at Asbury Theological Seminary, the report noted.

Truman started working again in the district in 2015, serving as a substitute teacher. It was through this position that Jaclyn Truman reportedly came into contact with her 15-year-old victim.

The allegations against Jaclyn Truman went viral after her arrest on Friday, with news outlets across the country picking up the story and pictures of the 30-year-old teacher spreading across social media. Part of the interest was due to the somewhat unusual nature of the case. While there have been a number of incidents of teachers carrying out sexual relationships with students to hit the news, Truman’s was one of the few where both teacher and the alleged victim were of the same sex.

Details of the relationship between Truman and the student were not immediately clear, including where the sexual relationship allegedly took place and how it came to light.

Jaclyn Truman was charged with two counts of lewd acts on a minor for allegedly having sex with the 15-year-old student. She has been jailed in lieu of $40,000 bail.
