Backstage News On Kane’s WWE Status After ‘TLC’

Will Kane remain in the WWE after the upcoming TLC pay-per-view? The Big Red Monster made his return after nearly a year. During this time, Kane has been campaigning for mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, and he has focused on endeavors away from WWE. After 20 years with his current gimmick, the 50-year-old former WWE Champion has decided that his days as an in-ring competitor are numbered. Last year, Kane spent most of his time toward the latter part of the year in forgettable feuds with Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt, and Randy Orton. Since he was not in any top angles on the brand, his absence was not as noticeable. However, it made his return even more surprising.

Kane, with new theme music, made his return during the steel cage match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman. Throughout the show, Curtis Axel was under the impression that he would be the fifth person on their team if Strowman could defeat Reigns in the cage. However, The Miz had other plans, and he warned Reigns and the WWE Universe that it was someone other than Axel. While many believed that Samoa Joe would be the person, Kane ascended from below the ring and assisted Strowman with the win. Now, the main event match at TLC will be a 3-on-5 handicap match.

While Kane’s addition to the match is to beef up the star power as a result of both John Cena and Brock Lesnar not being a part of the pay-per-view, it may just be a one-time thing. According to PWInsider, Kane is not scheduled for any events following TLC, and he will resume his campaigning for mayor. However, according to the Wrestling Observer, there is a chance that if Kane stays, he could feud with Braun Strowman since the “monster among men” is without a singles feud at the time.

Whether Kane has a farewell angle or match, this has yet to be determined. After viciously attacking Reigns on Raw, the wide speculation was that a feud would commence between him and Reigns following the match at TLC. Some even speculated that Reigns would retire Kane this year, which is the same year that he allegedly retired The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. However, The Shield is scheduled to remain a unit for the rest of the year, which denies any chance for a singles feud between the two based on current plans.
