One of the most anticipated events at Walt Disney World will be the opening of Toy Story Land in the summer of 2018, but when exactly will it be? At the D23 Expo in July, the company revealed it would open next summer, but they weren’t any more specific than that. While they still haven’t intentionally given any further info, there have been a few things that are hinting at a close proximity to the date the new land may open.
During the D23 Expo, Disney revealed that Toy Story Land’s official opening date would be “Summer 2018,” but that was all they revealed. Fans have tried to figure out when the exact date may be and the history of other openings show that it will likely be around Memorial Day.
Earlier this year, Pandora – The World of Avatar opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom over Memorial Day weekend. The same day, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout opened on the opposite coast at Disney California Adventure.
Still, any word that Toy Story Land is going to open around Memorial Day in 2018 is just an assumption, but a list of next year’s D23 events may have revealed a big clue.
The full list of 2018 events was revealed on the official website for D23, and there are some very interesting things to see around the beginning of the summer. While more may be added and some events are subject to change, the summer events give a few hints at when Andy’s backyard may open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Here is how some events are listed and their order:
- May 25, 2018 – D23’s Return to Marceline in Marceline, MO
This will be a visit to the hometown of Walt Disney where all of the creativity and imagination began.
- Summer – D23 Members Visit Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Summer – D23 Members Visit Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure
- June 23, 2018 – D23’s Magical Screening Series: Robin Hood in Burbank, CA
While nothing is confirmed, it is interesting to see that there is a visit to Toy Story Land scheduled after May 25 and before June 23. Memorial Day is on May 28, 2018, and that could play into how all of this comes about.
As reported by Chip and Company, if D23 members are visiting Toy Story Land, they are likely doing it before it opens. So, that makes it appear as if the land would open to the general public sometime in the first three weeks of June which means “early” summer 2018.
Again, this is all speculation at this point, but it does make a lot of sense.
Toy Story Land is going to breathe some much-needed life into Disney’s Hollywood Studios and fans can’t wait for it to open. The summer of 2018 really isn’t that far away, but fans would still love to know something more definite as far as the opening date. Walt Disney World has a lot of upcoming projects prepared to open in the coming years, but Pixar’s 11-acre land looks as if it will have its grand debut on or around Memorial Day next year.
