‘The Winds of Winter’ Arriving Before ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 8? George R.R. Martin Makes A New Promise

George R.R. Martin confirmed in 2011 that The Winds of Winter would be released next after the A Dance With Dragons novel. However, the renowned author has not yet announced the official launch date of the much-awaited sixth installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. Now, new reports claim that it would arrive before Game of Thrones Season 8 premieres in 2019.

The New Mexican writer previously announced thru his blog that The Winds of Winter might come out next year. George R.R. Martin divulged that he is still months away from completing the much-awaited book. He also debunked the claims saying that the novel is now ready for publishing.

“I don’t know which story is more absurd – the one that says the book is finished and I’ve been sitting on it for some nefarious reason, or the one that says I have no pages. Both ‘reports’ are equally false and equally moronic. I am still working on it, I am still months away (how many? good question), I still have good days and bad days, and that’s all I care to say.”

The brain behind the Game of Thrones also said he still has “good days and bad days” just like any typical novelist. In the same post, George R.R. Martin shared he is also working on the first installment of Fire and Blood series. He added it might come out along with The Winds of Winter in 2018.

“Whether WINDS or the first volume of FIRE AND BLOOD will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018… and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream…”

Because of this, fans cannot help but speculate that the much-anticipated book might be released before Game of Thrones Season 8’s official premiere. Reports have it that the critically acclaimed HBO series will return to the small screen in 2019. Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff previously revealed that the imminent eighth installment would feature six feature-length episodes that could be 60 to 120 minutes long.

Meanwhile, Winter Is Coming claims that George R.R. Martin has already cleared his schedule to focus more on writing The Winds of Winter. As a matter of fact, he vowed to complete the series before making public appearances. The publication added the 68-year-old writer even refused to accept an honorary degree from Texas A&M University for the long-awaited novel.

Aside from TWOW and Fire and Blood, the American novelist is also working on the final book of the A Song of Ice and Fire series titled A Dream of Spring. George R.R. Martin is also writing the scripts of the five Game of Thrones prequels. Stay tuned for more news and updates about The Winds of Winter novel!
