WWE Rumors: Former TNA Knockouts Champion Headed To WWE Women’s Roster?

A former TNA Knockouts Champion showed up as part of the recent tryout held at the WWE’s Performance Center which has created WWE rumors about her possibly joining the company’s roster. While various WWE women’s superstars have left the company for TNA and come back later, this would be a first-timer arriving from TNA to WWE. She also has connections to another former WWE personality, making for an interesting potential move to the rival company. Is former TNA star Madison Rayne going to become a part of WWE’s women roster for either NXT, Raw, or SmackDown Live soon?

Former TNA Knockouts champion Madison Rayne was among those who got a tryout with World Wrestling Entertainment. The WWE.com website lists her by her real name, Ashley Lomberger, on their tryout report and indicates that she’s used the name “Madison Rayne” while in the business. She was among several new stars trying out over the course of three days. Other attendees included a 7-foot-tall boxer from China who is undefeated, a 28-year-old U.S. Army veteran who trained under Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, as well as NFL free agent Wesley Saunders who played for the Steelers and Colts during his time in the league.

Madison Rayne didn’t just win the Knockouts Championship once during her career in TNA Impact (now Global Force Impact), but five times. The TNA’s wrestling website currently lists her in their alumni section. She was once a part of the popular women’s stable known as “The Beautiful People,” teaming up with Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, before engaging in different feuds over the years. Rayne was with the company about eight years.

Although Lomberger hasn’t been a part of the WWE before, many wrestling fans probably know of her husband. He’s current TNA commentator Joshua Lomberger, also known as Josh Matthews. Lomberger also once tried out for WWE via their Tough Enough series, and eventually ended up as a WWE commentator. Matthews worked with WWE for over a decade and was often included in segments involving attacks from heel stars. One of his last segments of this nature involved former WWE star Alberto Del Rio, who is now also part of TNA’s wrestling company, Global Force Wrestling.

It now appears that his wife Ashley Lomberger, aka “Madison Rayne,” could be working for the rival company. Adding to the speculation that she is headed to WWE was her recent tweet which may indicate she had a positive three-day tryout session. With that said, Rayne would certainly make a great addition to the women’s roster, and would probably get a start on the NXT show before moving to one of the bigger programs.
