‘Forza Horizon’ January Car Pack Dated, Detailed

We’re just under a week away from the beginning of a new year, and Forza Horizon is giving gamers the chance to celebrate with a batch of new cars. Well, most of them are cars.

For the reasonable price of 400 Microsoft Points – or nothing, if you have the Season Pass – you’ll get a total of five new vehicles in Forza Horizon‘s January car pack. If there’s an underlying theme for this pack, I’m going to assume that it’s “something for everyone.”

For starters, the DLC includes the 1983 GMC Vandura G-1500, which is essentially the face of vans from the 80s onwards. The Vandura isn’t exactly known for tearing up tracks and breaking records at the Nürburgring but, as Microsoft points out in the press release, it will likely to be popular with all of you artists in the Forza community.

Another vehicle not usually known to be used for racing included in Forza Horizon‘s January car pack is the 2012 Cadillac Escalade ESV, otherwise known as one of the vehicles people buy to let everyone know just how filthy rich they are. Or people who just like SUVs, I suppose.

The rest of the lineup included in the next round of Forza Horizon DLC feels right at home. The DLC adds in the 2012 Lotus Exige S, which is a bit heavier than the base version but quite a bit more powerful. You also get the very rare 2012 Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition which, as the name might suggest, was designed to go around the track faster than its predecessor.

Lastly, Forza Horizon‘s January car pack adds in the 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R which, although not quite as rare as the LFA, is a fairly uncommon sight.

Microsoft explains:

“A good sign of a car’s track potential is when you have to show a valid racing license to order one. Such was the case with the Cobra R. First, the folks at Ford’s Special Vehicle Tuning group lightened the new Mustang wherever possible then they dropped in an SVT-tuned, 5.8-liter Windsor V8. Brake cooling ducts replaced the fog lights and the suspension was improved to keep up with the potential of the 300 horsepower under the hood.”
