WWE News: The WWE Won’t Let Brock Lesnar Fight In UFC, According to Dana White

The current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar may not get to fight in the Octagon again anytime soon, according to UFC President Dana White. The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s head honcho recently took part in an interview during which he gave his thoughts and opinions about the whole Brock Lesnar situation. The Universal champ has previously moved from WWE to UFC and back to WWE again, even fighting a mixed martial arts match while working for WWE. However, White believes WWE won’t allow that to happen in the foreseeable future, but what about ever?

According to MMA Weekly, UFC president Dana White was interviewed on The Dan LeBatard Show. During that talk, White spoke of the situation involving MMA and WWE star Brock Lesnar. Basically, World Wrestling Entertainment allowed Brock to still work a UFC pay-per-view while under contract with the wrestling company. The event was the UFC 200 in 2016 where Brock defeated Mark Hunt but then it was later revealed that Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance. That resulted in a one-year suspension from UFC. It also apparently left the WWE feeling as if it was a bad move on their part to give Brock permission to cross back over while under contract.

White said there was once some potential for a big MMA fight between Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones. However, the UFC president feels that WWE would never allow Brock to also work UFC events again while he’s under WWE contract.

“They didn’t want to do that again. You saw what happened last time he was under contract and it doesn’t look good for anybody.”

The earliest that a Brock Lesnar vs. Jon Jones matchup can take place now is in 2018. That’s because Brock Lesnar is still under contract with WWE through next August. Ongoing WWE rumors have suggested that Brock Lesnar will lock up with Roman Reigns in the main event at WrestleMania 34. That takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana, next year. In the interim, he could defend his title against any number of stars including Finn Balor or Samoa Joe, depending on what WWE wants to do.

He could have even more opportunities against newer opponents in the future too. Earlier on Thursday, Wrestling Inc reported via Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there’s an option for Brock Lesnar to renew his deal with WWE next year. It’s expected that it will be renewed, but one never knows for sure what Brock Lesnar will decide for his future.

As far as returning to the octagon for another fight, Lesnar would need to let his WWE contract expire next year and “unretire” when it comes to his other profession. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion announced back in February that he was retiring from MMA. It was Brock Lesnar’s second time doing retiring from the sport. The question will be what he does once his WWE contract expires. One would think he’s doing pretty well with the schedule he currently works and is being paid handsomely as the WWE Universal Champion.

WWE and UFC fans, will Brock Lesnar ever compete in another MMA fight in the future? What will he do once his WWE contract expires?
