Huge Update On Neville Asking For His Release, Will WWE Grant His Request?

Neville revitalized his career with the WWE Cruiserweight Division after getting lost in the main roster and a long recovery from an ankle injury. He became a two-time WWE Cruiserweight champion and one of the most dominating superstars in the division’s history. However, a shocking rumor about Neville came out on Tuesday.

According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Neville walked out of Monday Night Raw and he has asked the WWE for his release. It is noticeable that Neville was absent on Raw when Kalisto defeated Enzo Amore in a Lumberjack Match to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The self-proclaimed “King of the Cruiserweights” was also a no-show on 205 Live.

Satin noted that Neville was scheduled to face Enzo Amore in the main event of Monday Night Raw but he walked out after finding out that he is going to lose. The WWE changed their plans after that and Kalisto was given the spot. Kalisto made the most of his chances as he was crowned the new WWE Cruiserweight champion.

On the other hand, Mike Johnson of PWInsider (h/t IWNerd) reports that the WWE changed their plans from Neville to Kalisto because they put themselves in the corner with the “no-touch clause” in Enzo Amore’s contract. Johnson added that another potential reason for the title change is because Monday was the late Eddie Guerrero’s birthday and Kalisto dedicated his victory to him.

Meanwhile, Ryan Satin also reported that Neville asking for his release is not yet confirmed. However, some of his sources close to the situation say that the incident is true and “The Man That Gravity Forgot” wants out of the WWE.

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer seems to have confirmed that Neville indeed walked out before Raw last Monday. But he added that the WWE is currently denying the rumors and they might not be interested in letting a talented superstar like Neville go. Also, Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto was originally planned to happen at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.

Neville has been inactive on social media since September 28 and it is interesting to note that he was unhappy in his last tweet. “The King of the Cruiserweights” did not like the design of his latest shirt and he feels like he deserves better.

It should be noted that these are just rumors at the moment. Neville is still listed as a WWE superstar and it would be a big mistake letting him go, especially with The Young Bucks ready to recruit him in the Bullet Club. However, the WWE usually grant most of the release requests they receive so it’s interesting to see if Neville will remain with the company.
