The Seven Deadly Sins Season 2 release date can’t come any sooner, and anime fans are now being treated to a Seven Deadly Sins trailer video for the second season. What’s more, the new promo art gives a sneak peek at the seventh Sin, Lord Esconar, who has previously only been shown in the Nanatsu no Taizai manga series before now.
The second season will be called The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments, and the opening theme song will be sung by FLOW X GRANRODEO (they also created the ending music for the first season). The anime season will be based on the manga series written by Nakaba Suzuki, which is currently up to over 200 chapters.
The first anime season faithfully (except for some minor details) adapted the first 100 chapters. The OVA episodes, Signs of Holy War, were anime original content created with the help of the manga author (Netflix incorrectly labeled these OVA episodes as “Season 2” for a time, but has since corrected the error).
Besides the second anime season, which will premiere in 2018, there is also a Seven Deadly Sins movie that is planned for the summer of 2018. No details have been released, but it is possible the film will contain the major battles against the elite demon group called the Ten Commandments. It’s also possible the movie will be an original story.

The first visual that was released for Nanatsu no Taizai Season 2 showed Meliodas facing off against Zeldris the Piety, son of the Demon King and a member of the Ten Commandments. The newest key visual clearly depicts the back of Lord Esconar, Lion’s sin of Pride, in the top right. The seventh Sin has not been shown in the anime series yet.
Warning: Seven Deadly Sins character spoilers are contained below.
There is very good reason Lord Escanor is shown pointing at the sun. The powerful character is the opposite of a vampire, which finds its power from the night. Escanor reaches his peak power during the noonday sun but slowly withers away to become a small and shriveled man during the night. Not only does Escanor’s body change, so does his attitude. He’s quite prideful when at full strength, but he’s insecure and cowardly during the night. Escanor even changes his eating habits, speech patterns, and thoughts during these transitions.
