AJ Styles Reveals Surprising Potential New Feud Following ‘Hell In A Cell’ Match

While the B-level pay-per-views are usually purposed to be a holdover to the major events, Hell in a Cell boldly inserted itself to be one of the best of the year. During the event, there were many moments where fans were at the edge of their seats, even standing up in shock and awe. Moreover, on the pay-per-view, there were two title changes. One of those changes was Baron Corbin winning the United States Championship by pinning Tye Dillinger in a triple threat match which included then-champion AJ Styles.

During his interview on Talking Smack, Corbin gloated over the fact that he commenced his first reign as U.S. Champion, and that this is his first title since debuting in both NXT and the main roster. Corbin was aware that both Styles and Dillinger are lurking after him, wanting a chance at his title. He also discussed the critics on Twitter, as he boastfully tweeted about his victory.

Later in the show, Styles was interviewed. Styles confirmed that he wants to invoke his rematch clause this coming Tuesday on SmackDown Live. He stated that his goal is to win the U.S. title, and then vie for the WWE Championship and hold both titles on his shoulders. In the WWE, the only person who was able to achieve this feat was Seth Rollins.

Styles then, surprisingly, tossed his hat in the mysterious conclusion of the main event Hell in a Cell match between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens. At the end of the match, Owens’ former best friend and bitter rival, Sami Zayn, assisted Owens in eluding a top-of-the-cell elbow drop from Shane. He then dumped Owens’ mangled body over Shane, as the referee pinned to three.

Not happy about what he saw, Styles wished Shane a speedy recovery. He also stated that, although their relationship is not very stable, he is willing to team up with Shane to compete against Owens and Zayn. This gives a major hint at a potential feud to occur on SmackDown Live in the near future. With Survivor Series approaching next month, a Team Shane vs. Team Owens match would be a good addition to their ongoing feud, and AJ Styles may be a part of that equation.
