WWE News: Jinder Mahal Warns NFL Star Rob Gronkowski About ‘Unfinished Business’

The current WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal, isn’t quite finished with the New England Patriots’ Rob Gronkowski. The “Modern Day Maharaja” recently put Gronkowski on notice regarding a previous incident the two had between them. Could this mean that the NFL star will be getting back into the WWE wrestling ring sometime in the future?

In an interview from Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, Jinder Mahal addressed the topic of Gronkowski. The Patriots’ tight end was at WrestleMania 33 this past year and factored into how things played out during the pre-show. “Gronk,” as he’s affectionately called by teammates, friends, and fans, was in the front row of the record crowd to watch his friend Mojo Rawley compete. He played a strong part in Mojo getting the win too.

Toward the end of the match, Jinder Mahal was outside the ring and got into it with Gronkowski. Ultimately, Jinder threw a drink in Gronk’s face, which didn’t sit well with the Patriots star. That led to the rather intimidating NFL star getting into the ring to get some revenge on Mahal. Gronkowski would hit a three-point stance and then run down Jinder. Moments later, Mojo Rawley grabbed the win after eliminating Jinder and one other competitor. That gave Mojo his first-ever Andre the Giant Memorial trophy.

When speaking about the incident with SI, it became clear that Mahal will be getting his own revenge on the Patriots player.

“Rob Gronkowski cost me the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and I haven’t forgot that. There is definitely unfinished business between myself and Gronkowski, and I can guarantee he’ll be getting his receipt.”

Rob Gronkowski is currently involved in the NFL season which just began several weeks ago. As of this report, his New England Patriots team is 3-2 for their season. While he’s busy with his main job right now, it doesn’t seem far-fetched that he might decide to step into the ring again. Gronk has the build to work in a professional wrestling match and has been friends with Mojo Rawley, who could “show him the ropes.”

Neither Jinder Mahal nor Rob Gronkowski is currently offered with odds to win the Royal Rumble 2018 match next year. However, one would think that Gronkowski could certainly make an appearance in that match or a follow-up appearance at WrestleMania 34. At that pay-per-view, he could even be an official part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, if WWE decided. Or, they could decide to put him in a singles or tag team situation with Jinder Mahal on the other side.

It wouldn’t make for the first time an NFL star participated in a WWE match. Former Chicago Bears defensive player William “Refrigerator” Perry was also part of a WrestleMania 2 battle royal match, which involved football players and wrestling stars. Perry eliminated Big John Studd and Tony Atlas from the field before eventually being eliminated himself.

Former New York Giants defensive star Lawrence Taylor actually fought in the main event for WrestleMania XI in a match he won against Bam Bam Bigelow. Gronkowski probably won’t achieve main event status, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him get in the ring again in some capacity.

WWE fans, do you think Rob Gronkowski will have a one-on-one match with Jinder Mahal in the future, or will Gronk be part of a different match?
