In the middle of the summer, it was announced at the D23 Expo that a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction would be built at Epcot in Walt Disney World, but not much more was known about it. After a lot of speculation and a number of rumors, it has now been revealed that it will be a ride that is the first of its kind at Epcot. The yet-to-be-named ride is going to be a thrill ride, and it will be Epcot’s first-ever roller coaster.
The first attraction based on the popular Marvel film opened at Disney California Adventure earlier this year, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout has had massive lines since. When it was revealed at the D23 Expo that Epcot would get its own ride centered around the band of miscreants, guests immediately started assuming what it would be like.
Disney has been quite hush-hush on details even with the Universe of Energy closing in mid-August to make way for the new attraction. However, it seems as if it only took the arrival of Epcot’s 35th anniversary on October 1, 2017, for the news to finally come out.
The Guardians of the Galaxy attraction at Epcot will indeed be a roller coaster.

According to WDWNT, the announcement was made on Sunday by Melissa Valiquette, who is the vice president of Epcot. Speaking to members of the media, she made the confirmation that the roller coaster will be the first of its kind for the park and will grace Future World in the years to come.
Guests will be launched through a tunnel and into a 10-story tall show building, which will encompass the ride in the old Universe of Energy pavilion. Apparently, the ride system is going to be the first of its kind, but no details have yet been revealed about it.
Epcot is the last of the four main Walt Disney World theme parks that does not have a roller coaster as one of its attractions.
Walt Disney World is undergoing a lot of changes to parks, resorts, and so much more as it heads toward its 50th-anniversary celebration in 2021. Epcot is going to see some massive differences in the next few years with a new Ratatouille attraction as well as the brand new Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster. These new rides will be unlike anything else at the second WDW park as it looks ahead to the future.
