Publishers Clearing House Scam Sweeps United States

A new scam is sweeping America, and it’s reportedly sucking people in: the Publisher’s Clearing House scam.

The scam works like this: people receive a call from someone claiming to be from Publisher’s Clearing House telling them that they’d won a $500,000 prize. The bogus representative then advises the potential victim that they need to pay a fee of anywhere from $100 to $6,000 in order to claim the prize.

The scam is convincing because Publisher’s Clearing House has in the past offered $500,000 prize. However according to the company they NEVER call winners, and they are not currently offering a $500,000 prize.

According to reports, the scam is primarily operating in Florida due to the state’s elderly population of retirees who are more likely to be sucked in by the scam.

If you receive on of these calls, or have been a victim of the Publishers Clearing House scam, you should contact local police.
