Chiefs running back Larry Johnson has been suspended for making anti-gay slurs on his Twitter account, and to a journalist.
On Twitter, Johnson referred to a “fag pic” and called a person a “Christopher street boy,” a reference to a gay area in New York’s Greenwich Village. Later that day, Johnson told a reporter to “Get your faggot ass out of here.”
Johnson has been “barred from team activities” while the Chief’s investigate his use of anti-gay slurs. Johnson has apologized “for the words I used” and said that “I regret my actions. The words were used by me in frustration, and they were not appropriate…I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said.”
It’s not clear from reports how long Johnson’s suspension may last, or when he might return to playing. One things for sure, I don’t think the team will be letting him near Twitter again any time soon.
