Katy Perry Congratulates Russell Brand On Reaching 10 Years Of Sobriety

Katy Perry has reached out to her ex-husband Russell Brand to congratulate him for reaching 10 years of being clear of alcohol and drugs.

Despite divorcing after only 14 months of marriage, it’s clear to see that there is a lot of affection between the duo, and apparently the 28 year-old sent an email to the comedian stating how ‘proud’ she is of him, and how her heart is ‘finally healing’ following their split.

A source told The Sun, “Although they’ve broken up, Katy knows how important this milestone is for Russell. She wanted to let him know that she was thinking of him and that she was still proud of what he has achieved.”

Last week, the 37 year-old took to Twitter to announce, “10 years clean today. Thanks for all your messages of love. Thanks @schullerinc for the film. Anyone can get clean, one day at a time.” The actor now lives a healthy lifestyle that sees him partake in yoga regularly.

Brand recently starred in a TV documentary entitled, Russell Brand : From Addiction to Recovery, where he decided to watch footage of himself on drugs and then described how he had descended into this mess.

Perry, who is currently dating John Mayer, and Brand, who is rumored to be seeing Australian model Kate Peck, split up in 2011, with the comedian noting at the time, “I still love her as a human being, but sometimes when you’re in a relationship, I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything.”
