‘Borderlands 2’: Next Round Of DLC Coming January

Need a good reason to come back to Pandora? 2K Games announced that Borderlands 2‘s third story DLC, titled “Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt,” is set to debut on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 starting January 15, 2013.

The DLC is part of Borderlands 2‘s Season Pass content, and is the third of four planned story DLCs – at least initially. If you threw down the money for the season pass, the expansion will be yours at no extra cost. Otherwise, you’ll have to fork over $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points).

Here’s a rundown on the DLC, as posted on the developer’s blog:

“What starts off as a relaxing hunting expedition with Sir Hammerlock soon takes a sinister turn as our Vault Hunters stumble across a new villain intent on restoring the legacy of Handsome Jack.

“Irresistible new loot, memorable new quests, a variety of challenging and exotic new enemies, a new vehicle and more await players as they fight their way through the never-before-seen lands of Aegrus to give this evil-doer the old one-two!”

We may be nearing the end of the promised Season Pass content, but Gearbox Software has no intentions of holding back on DLC after the fourth one is released. Speaking to IGN, a representative said the developer plans to keep supporting the game beyond the fourth expansion until, well, people stop caring.

The representative didn’t say what sort of content Gearbox might be interested in tackling, but it was “hinted at” that new characters are a possibility. They did, however, say that the level cap is being raised above 50 at some point in the first quarter of 2013.
