Missing ASU Student’s Body May Have Been Found

Police in Arizona believe they have found the body of missing ASU student Jack Culolias.

According to AZ Family, authorities found a body in the Salt River on Sunday and believe that it is the 19-year-old missing ASU student. The county medical examiner will examine the body before Culolias is positively identified.

Tempe Police Department spokesman Sgt. Mike Pooley told AZ Central:

“We don’t know whether or not it’s Jack. There’s a good chance it is. We just have to wait for the Medical Examiner’s Office … Obviously, it’s a very tragic situation. Our heart goes out to the family, our heart goes out to the friends, everybody that’s here and everybody that’s been watching.”

Culolias was last seen on November 30 after being kicked out of a bar during a fraternity event. His friends saw him get into a cab but never saw him again.

KTL reports that a shoe was found near the salt river about two weeks ago. On Sunday, two private search groups went looking for Culolias near the spot where the shoe had been found and saw a body floating in the river. Police said that the body pulled from the river was only wearing one shoe, leading many to believe that the missing ASU student had been found.

Tempe police said that they do not suspect any foul play in Culolias’ disappearance. The county medical examiner is expected to ID the body today or tomorrow.
