The Tomb Raider reboot movie seems to be making a lot of noise in the entertainment industry nowadays as Oscar winner Alicia Vikander takes on the iconic role that launched Angelina Jolie’s career in Hollywood.
While it may seem like a massive shoe to fill, the 28-year-old Swedish actress appears to be taking the role of Lara Croft with surprising ease as she teases what the film is all about.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Vikander reveals that her version of the beloved character portrayed by UN Ambassador Angelina Jolie in 2001 will be stripping away all of her experience in the reboot that tackles the character’s origins.
“She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits but we’ve stripped away all of her experience,” the Oscar winner stated.
From that point, Alicia shared exactly where fans would find her Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot film.
“She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought [her father played by Dominic West] was a stuck up businessperson living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.”
Aside from teasing what the film will be about, the 28-year-old actress also admitted that starting from the very beginning was the “major pull” for her to play Lara Croft, which EW reveals was adapted from the 2013 video game with the same title.

“I was surprised that my mum knew what Tomb Raider was. That’s due to the fact that Angelina Jolie made Lara Croft such an icon. But this is a beautiful way of showing a very loved character from more angles,” she said of the Tomb Raider reboot.
She even recalled the challenges of filming the movie, particularly one that was shot in the same spot where an Olympic rafting competition was conducted.
“For one action scene, we used the London venue for Olympic rafting,” she stated before laughing.
“They threw me down that river — with my hands tied — about 50 times. I didn’t need to act, just react!”
Aside from Alicia Vikander, it seems like fans of the iconic character and epic adventure movie starring Angelina Jolie are excited to see how the new film and the new Lara Croft will perform.

Others simply expressed their awe at how “incredible” Alicia looks and how she will be perfect for the role.
Man do I love Alicia Vikander. I have no doubt she'll kill it as Lara Croft in the new #TombRaider movie

On the other hand, there are those who are still doubtful that Vikander was the best choice for the role.
I love Alicia Vikander to bits, I truly do, but I can't help but wish we got @NaomiScott as Lara Croft. She's a dead ringer. And British!

tbh I don't know if Alicia Vikander will be my cup of tea as Lara Croft for #TombRaider

Despite that, the film and the iconic character made popular by Angelina Jolie seems to be enough for people to watch the new Tomb Raider film no matter who plays the lead.
