Meghan Markle Secretly Engaged To Prince Harry, Afraid To Go Public For Fear Of Comparisons To Kate Middleton

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been secretly engaged for close to six months, but the couple is reportedly wary of going public as Markle fears she will be compared to future sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

While Prince Harry has had a string of very public and high-profile relationships, Markle is the first woman he has dated to have fame in her own right. The Suits actress has garnered her own reputation in Hollywood and a booming career across the ocean from where Prince Harry makes his home.

That could create a messy future for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and there are rumors that the actress is fearful that going public with her engagement would draw what she sees as an unfair comparison.

A report from Life & Style claimed that Markle is getting “cold feet” about the engagement because going public would mean comparisons to Kate Middleton.

“Meghan has told Harry that she doesn’t want to be like Kate. She wants to keep hold of her identity,” a source told the outlet.

Meghan is also wary about what life might be like after marrying Prince Harry, especially given that Meghan’s family lives in California and her friends and work associates are in Toronto, where Suits is filmed.

But there could already be a solution in the works. Recent reports have indicated that Prince Harry may be willing to leave the royal life behind, abandoning his duties so he could marry Meghan Markle.

That report came last week from OK! Magazine, claiming Prince Harry was willing to do whatever it took after asking — but failing — to receive the blessing of Queen Elizabeth in marrying the actress. According to the report, the fact that Markle is divorced and an American was off-putting to the queen.

“It’s awful,” a source told the outlet. “Harry is now faced with the choice between his country and the woman he loves.”

Prince Harry could already be planning the move. Radar Online reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen looking for homes in Hollywood Hills, showing that Harry is willing to give up the royal life so Markle could maintain her career.

There have been other reports claiming that Markle was seen trying on wedding dresses, meaning the engagement could soon be public.

Friends of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told Life & Style that the two are madly in love and will find a way to make the relationship work, wherever it may be. As to when their allegedly still-secret engagement might be made public, the sources did not say.
