Avan Jogia Reacts To Twitter’s ‘Aladdin’ Casting Frenzy, ‘Victorious’ Star Not Interested In Disney Remake?

The highly anticipated live-action remake of the Disney classic Aladdin has yet to find its lead star but fans have been offering several talented options on Twitter. However, it looks like there is one actor who will not be trying out for the coveted role. Has former Victorious star Avan Jogia just confirmed that he will not audition for the Guy Ritchie movie?

People were recently shocked when it was revealed that the live-action Aladdin film has not yet found an actor for the titular role. After all, the Disney movie is expected to begin production in July and the lead should already be cast by now. Nevertheless, Twitter users decided to take matters into their own hands and began sharing ideas on the best candidates for the role.

Not surprisingly, hundreds of fans nominated Avan Jogia for Aladdin. Some pointed out that the Twisted star was a perfect fit because of his ethnicity and age. In addition to that, Jogia has the acting chops and talent to pull off a musical.

It certainly appeared like the only thing Avan Jogia had to do now was to audition for the Disney film. However, the 25-year-old actor may have hinted at the possibility that he will not be going after the coveted role anytime soon.

Amidst all the Twitter frenzy over the Aladdin casting, Avan Jogia quietly tweeted about the lack of promising roles for actors of color. Some were quick to note that Jogia might be refusing to try out for the Guy Ritchie movie.

Avan Jogia is best known for playing Beck Oliver in the Nickelodeon series Victorious. Since then, he has appeared in several films and TV shows including the Spike miniseries Tut where he starred alongside Ben Kingsley. The two actors would later reunite in the short film Of Dogs and Men, which Jogia directed.

Alladin might not be in Avan Jogia’s future but that doesn’t mean that the young actor is staying idle. He is currently hard at work on the new Syfy series Ghost Wars, which also stars Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio and Kim Coates of Sons of Anarchy.
