Meryl Streep’s Custom Barack And Michelle Obama Purse With Actress Everywhere She Goes
Apparently, Meryl Streep’s gushfest over Barack and Michelle Obama wasn’t a passing thing after all, and she has a pretty cool purse to prove it. The word is Meryl loves the Obamas so much that her custom handbag bearing their pictures goes with her whenever she steps out in public, according to E! News.
Meryl Streep’s love for Michelle and Barack Obama extends beyond the couple’s time in the White House. The Oscar-winning actress, 68, was snapped out in public recently with a purse emblazoned with the faces of the former president and first lady.
Meryl appears in photographs being helped down step leading away from her trailer. She is currently in production of the upcoming Steven Spielberg-directed film The Papers. Streep plays the role of Kay Graham, the nation’s first woman newspaper publisher, who struggles to address the Nixon administration’s attempt to block the press’ reporting of the Pentagon’s alleged cover-up, according to Movie Insider.
In the recent on-location images, Meryl is dressed casually in a dark jacket and trousers, flip-flops, and a purple ball cap. In one hand, Streep carries a large leather handbag. In the other, the Kramer vs. Kramer actress totes a purse with the image of Barack and Michelle embracing another on one side and a pic of the former FLOTUS’ smirk on the other.
It’s unclear if Meryl Streep had a hand in designing the Barack and Michelle Obama purse. However, it’s no surprise that she is fond of the Obamas — and the feeling is reportedly mutual, as Vanity Fair points out.

Streep was a fixture alongside Michelle during Barack’s presidency. She partnered with the then-first lady on several White House initiatives. Meryl attended an A-list farewell party for Mr. and Mrs. Obama; she tagged along during a trip to Africa, and Streep routinely appeared in pictures hugging the president and first lady over the years.

Before a packed room at the White House in 2014, President Obama professed his love for the Into the Woods star. Streep was among 19 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
“I love Meryl Streep. Her husband knows I love her. Michelle knows I love her. There’s nothing they can do about it,” the then-commander in chief said.
Perhaps, Barack and Michelle will respond in kind over Meryl Streep’s purse gesture by wearing apparel etched with one of Meryl’s movie quotes: “Honey, this is nasty business…” (Rendition as Corrine Whitman).
