San Diego Chargers Worker Dies After Fall From Press Box


The gates opened nearly 40 minutes late at the Monday night San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos game, after a member of the teams game day staff died after falling from the teams press box.

Walt Daniels, 66, died 12 hours after the fall that occurred nearly 3 hours before stadium gates were set to open. According to reports, workers later cleaned up a pool of blood at the scene.

Daniels was rushed to Sharp Memorial Hospital but died 12 hours later after sustaining a head injury from the nearly 30 foot height.

The Chargers later released a press statement: “The San Diego Chargers family is greatly saddened by the loss of Walt Daniels,” the team said in a statement. “Walt loved the team and loved working in the press box on game days for more than 20 years. Our prayers are with his family and friends during this most difficult time.”
