Pic: Leah Ignagni revealed as Steve McNair’s ‘other’ other woman

The CBS blog Crimesider has found some interesting information in a police report about he strange and tragic incident in which police believe Sahel Kazemi took the life of NFL quarterback Steve McNair as well as her own.

McNair, who was having an affair with Kazemi, was also involved with a young woman revealed as Leah Ignagni. According to the police report, it appears that McNair was spending time with Ignagni when Kazemi was arrested for the DUI that is believed to have been the catalyst for the murder/suicide:

Leah Ignagni was developed as an individual who was possibly also dating McNair. She confirmed the dating relationship and recalled a day, two to three weeks before McNair’s murder, when she was leaving McNair’s Lea Avenue condo and observed a female inside a black Cadillac Escalade parked outside the building. Ignagni said she noticed the Escalade follow her as she drove to her apartment, which is located in the Gulch area of downtown Nashville. Ignagni said she noticed the same vehicle on several other occasions one to two weeks prior to McNair’s murder parked outside her apartment building or circling the block.

Ignagni said McNair came to her apartment at approximately 4 a.m. on July 2 and related to her that a good friend named “Jenni” had been arrested for DUI. Ignagni said late Thursday, July 2, at approximately 10:30 p.m., McNair returned to her apartment and spent the night. Ignagni said when she awoke on the morning of Friday, July 3, McNair had left her apartment. She believes he went to go open his restaurant.

While a football star being a player is not necessarily news, CBS casts some doubt on Kazemi’s supposed immutably desperate state of mind. Although the site published a long text exchange in which Kazemi repeatedly asks for money and states she may have a “breakdown,” jailhouse video recorded during the DUI arrest show Kazemi in apparent good spirits, interacting with people in a friendly manner and even fixing another woman’s hair.

Hands down, the most intriguing new information is about the man who allegedly sold Kazemi the gun later used to kill Kazemi and McNair. While Adrian Gilliam originally told police the gun changed hands that Thursday, he later changed his story. He originally indicated that he was not well acquainted with Kazemi, but cell phone records indicate the two had interacted almost constantly, with as many as 200 calls and text messages exchanged between them in the days before her death. Gilliam was also one of the last people to speak with Kazemi, during a three minute phone call two hours before police believe Kazemi died.

Consulting law enforcement expert Wayne Black told CBS that Gilliam’s story warrants checking out:

In addition, gun powder residue tests on Kazemi’s hands were inconclusive, and CBS News uncovered little or no evidence that Gilliam ever sold Kazemi the gun.

Some experts say that given these findings, and Gilliam’s criminal record, police should continue to look into this case and re-examine the evidence; all of it.

“Not only is he a convicted felon, he’s a big liar,” Black said.

“What should be done? It’s simple; the police should investigate further,” he added.
