Jenna Dewan Tatum Left Shaken By An Unexpected Visit On ‘Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry’

Jenna Dewan Tatum offered to put herself out there in a new way when she appeared as a guest on a recent episode of Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry. The actress, who now hosts World of Dance on NBC, agreed to open up her personal life on television with Tyler Henry and, in so doing, Ms. Deawn Tatum was confronted by a difficult past and an offer of peace with her late grandfather.

Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry Gives Jenna Dewan Tatum Some Closure

Jenna Dewan Tatum was left scarred by her grandfather’s passing years ago, because, as E! News shared, the elder patriarch lived a troubled life in his later years and that affected the way he treated his family. In speaking of her grandfather, Tyler Henry told the celebrity that her grandfather now regrets the way he handled addiction and mental illness just prior to his passing.

The Hollywood Medium host told Ms. Dewan Tatum that her grandfather now recognizes that he was self-medicating prior to his death. Mr. Henry also told Jenna that, due to the self-medication, her grandfather’s personality changed and he treated his family differently.

“He’s apologizing because he feels like the person he was when he was not self-medicating was very different than the person that he was when he was self-medicating,” said Tyler Henry.

Henry then asked his guest if her grandfather struggled with a specific type of addiction in his life.

According to Refinery 29, Jenna Dewan Tatum revealed that her grandfather did struggle with mental illness through much of his life, though she couldn’t answer to any specific addiction to drugs or alcohol. The actress admit she didn’t know many details, because her grandfather felt ashamed of his condition and didn’t speak openly about it.

Jenna added that he stopped taking the prescribed medication, towards the latter portion of his life.

Ms. Dewan Tatum also shared greater insight into why her grandfather’s mental health declined in those later years. She attributed his difficulties to a devastating loss.

“When my grandmother died, it jarred the whole family but it really was jarring for my grandfather,” said Ms. Dewan Tatum.

Jenna added that her grandfather’s mental illness and habit for self-medicating prevented the rest of her family from getting the closure they needed at the time of his death. Ms. Dewan Tatum hinted that speaking with Tyler Henry on Hollywood Medium helped her get some of that closure for herself.
