Here’s what you need to know about this latest collaboration between Nintendo and 2K Sports.

“WWE 2K18” Predecessor

WWE 2K17 was released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox on October 11, 2016. The Microsoft Windows version was released on February 7, 2017. Brock Lesnar graced the cover of the 2017 edition of the WWE video game series with the soundtrack curated by Sean Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy.

The WWE 2k17 has a variety of game modes including Play Mode, MyCareer Mode, Universe Mode, Creation Suite, and Online. WWE 2K17 has a roster of 136 superstars including current superstars, legends, and NXT superstars. The last WWE game to be released on a Nintendo platform was the WWE 2K13 for the Nintendo Wii.

“WWE 2K18” Release Date

Forbes reported that the WWE 2K18 is scheduled for an October 17, 2017, release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox 1. The Nintendo Switch version of the WWE 2K18, the 19th game in the WWE Series and fifth in the WWE 2K series, is set to be released this Fall. As of press time, there has been no listing for WWE 2K18 release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or PC. The WWE 2K18 is expected to do well in sales, especially under the Nintendo Switch platform since there are fewer Sports title under the Switch. WWE superstar Seth “The King Slayer” Rollins made the announcement concerning the release of WWE 2K18 on the Nintendo Switch platform.

WWE superstars consider it a huge honor to be selected as the cover artist for the WWE video games. As such, Seth Rollins is no different from those who have gone before him. As mentioned above, Seth Rollins has been selected to appear on the cover of WWE 2K18. Rollins talked about it on RAW a couple of weeks ago, detailing his own love of video games.

On Rollins selection as the cover athlete for WWE 2K18, 2K Sports marketing executive Chris Snyder said in a statement that “there was one obvious answer,” but Seth Rollins to the question pertaining to “who truly represents the WWE 2K18 to the fullest extent.”

There is no shortage of Rollins’ accomplishments in wrestling. Rollins won the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar, the WWE 2K17 poster boy. Rollins is also the only wrestler to simultaneously hold the WWE Championship and the United States Championship. However, in his last match during the Great Balls of Fire Pay-Per-View event, Rollins lost to Bray “The Eater of Worlds” Wyatt.

“WWE 2K18” Features

The WWE 2K18 is reportedly going to have an improved Creation Suite. It will have a new Create-a-Match feature while the Create-a-Superstar, Create-an-Arena, and Create-a-Video features are enhanced. Following the success of its predecessors, MyPLAYER will also be getting an upgrade as it will introduce fighting styles and a brand new upgrade and progression system. For the gamer-favorite mode MyCAREER, gamers can expect a new story and a free-roaming backstage area that allows created characters from MyPlayer to interact with other WWE Superstars and will be involved with respect to the direction in which the story goes.

What’s new with WWE 2K18 is the Road to Glory Mode? This new game mode will allow players to compete against other players. The gamers, using their own MyPlayer characters, battle each other for a spot in WWE pay-per-view events

Of course, improvements in the overall play experience is to be expected for the latest video game to be released under the WWE banner and WWE 2K series. As such, the characters in the WWE 2K18 would sport more realistic skins. The overall aesthetics will also get a makeover as new visuals provided by a new Graphics Engine will enhance the camera effects. Also, Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton will be added to the Commentary Team, adding their inimitable brand of commentary flare.

Other gameplay additions and enhancements are also set to be included in the game. Overall, WWE 2K18 is expected to be the most realistic WWE game to ever be released.

While the Nintendo Switch is lacking the computing power of its fixed gaming system counterparts, being able to play the WWE 2K18 in a mobile setting adds to the allure of the WWE 2K18.
