Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder Reunite On 'The Originals' Season 5?

The Originals Season 5 will see series creator Julie Plec take the spot as the new showrunner for The CW spinoff series. This opens up a multitude of possibilities, including a potential crossover of characters from its predecessor, The Vampire Diaries. Will Ian Somerhalder join Nina Dobrev's rumored return to the series?

A recent report suggests that Nina Dobrev will be guest starring on The Originals Season 5. While her appearance on The CW drama has yet to be officially confirmed, many fans are already expressing their hopes that Dobrev's co-star and former boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder will join her on the show.

After all, Dobrev and Somerhalder reunited recently for The Vampire Diaries Season 8 finale, which gave their characters a happy ending. Aptly called by fans as "Delena," many fans are hoping that while their love story has already come to an end on TVD, Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert can hop in to New Orleans to visit the Mikaelsons on The Originals Season 5.

The Originals is a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries; thus, it wouldn't really be a surprise to see some characters do a crossover. This was perfectly exemplified with Klaus and Caroline, which gave rise to the popular 'ship, "Klaroline." A former character from TVD, Alaric, also appeared in an episode on Season 4.

"I've come out of this not only with a new wife and this life and this family and eight years under my belt, but I also have lifelong friendships and a vast amount of knowledge that I can now take into my life and my career."

Do you think Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder should have another reunion on The Originals Season 5?
