‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Billy Flynn On Chad And Gabi Romance, Was DiMera Having A ‘Breakdown’?

Days Of Our Lives fans are divided on how they feel about Chad DiMera’s women. Some are loyal followers of “Chabby” and want nothing more than Chad and Abigail (Marci Miller) to reconcile. However, others like the chemistry he has with Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus). In an interview, Billy Flynn talked about the love triangle. He hinted that when Chad started seeing Gabi, he was going through a bit of a breakdown due to Abigail’s alleged death.

In a recent interview with Michael Fairman, Billy Flynn discussed Chad DiMera and the complicated situation he finds himself in. When asked if Chad loves Gabi, the actor gave an interesting response. The two have a history together and Flynn said he thinks it “grows into a love.” However, that doesn’t mean they are meant to be together.

“The way I play Chad he leads with his heart and he doesn’t want to hurt anybody. Now that being said, Chad and Gabi had this thing before Abigail comes back, and he didn’t know what to do. It was hard for Chad fighting with Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) all of the time and with all of that. If you look at it from a real life example, and as much as losing his soul mate was the end of him, I think it was his own little breakdown he was having. I think that may have gone over people’s head.”

Days Of Our Lives fans remember what happened after Chad was told his wife was dead. He began drinking a lot, wasn’t tending to business, and was even having a difficult time caring for baby Thomas. He was angry and full of rage. He hired Ciara Brady (formerly Vivian Jovanni) to be a nanny, but that didn’t work out because she developed a crush on him.

It is clear that Chad didn’t set out to find a new woman. So, what exactly happened that brought Chad and Gabi together?

“It was part of his grieving process. I think he was lonely. It was just nice for him to have Gabi around, and then he realizes life doesn’t have to be so hard. Then we get to Abigail coming back and she is in the attic! For Chad, I remember the moment she said, ‘I didn’t come back for you.’ If any real couple has been through everything those two had been through, what is the chance of them making it? I think we tried to play that as honestly as we could.”

Days Of Our Lives spoilers tease that Chad and Gabi won’t be able to reconnect after Martin House. Chad can’t get Abigail out of his head, even if she is now married to Dario Hernandez (Jordi Vilasuso). New head writer Ron Carlivati even teased that in the near future, Chad will be thinking of Abby while staring at her ring. It is clear to a lot of viewers that “Chabby” will get back together. It is just a matter of when.
