‘Dancing With The Stars’ Double Wedding Weekend: Who Went To Maks And Peta’s Wedding, Who Went To Julianne’s?

Dancing With the Stars cast members were put in an interesting situation when longtime show stars Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd set the same wedding date as DWTS judge Julianne Hough. Now that the big, double wedding day has arrived, social media clues show who jetted to Long Island to attend Maks and Peta’s supersized wedding and who stayed on the West Coast to witness Julianne exchange vows in a lower-key ceremony with fiancé Brooks Laich.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, DWTS pro (and brother of one of the brides), Derek Hough, said Julianne’s wedding celebration would be “a week-long event” for family and close friends. When asked about the conflict with Maks and Peta’s wedding, Derek told ET the guest lists for the two weddings are completely different.

“We have different friends [and] different groups,” Hough told ET of the DWTS pro dancers.

But an insider told Life & Style that’s not the case, saying the double wedding date caused “a lot of behind-the-scenes drama” and that “you have to be either Team Hough or Team Peta and Maks.”

Now that Maks and Peta’s and Julianne and Brooks’ wedding weekend has arrived, it’s not hard to see who went East, who stayed West, and who skipped town altogether.

Some of the wedding guests were no brainers—Julianne’s guest list obviously included Derek, while the Chmergatroyd wedding included brother of the groom, Val Chmerkovskiy, and his girlfriend Jenna Johnson, who streamed pics on her Instagram Story all weekend long.

But others weren’t so clear cut. Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron took to Twitter to wish Maks and Peta congratulations, but he didn’t mention Julianne and Brooks.

DWTS pro dancer Sharna Burgess definitely had two wedding invites to juggle. The Aussie dancer, who is BFFs with Murgatroyd, posted that she attended two weddings in two days in two countries. After attending another friend’s gala on Friday, Sharna jetted to New York for Maks and Peta’s wedding at Oheka Castle the next morning.

Shirley Ballas, mom of Team Hough bestie Mark Ballas, posted a link to a social media story about Chmerkovskiy and Murgatroyd’s wedding, writing, “Hugs and have an amazing day. See you all soon.”

Ballas is like a second mom to Julianne Hough, and her post makes it clear she’s not in New York to congratulate Maks and Peta in person.

But DWTS troupe member Alan Bersten was team Maks and Peta. Bersten posed for several social media shots at the Long Island wedding.

Meanwhile, Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba had another type of celebration on her plate. Instead of attending fellow judge Julianne’s shindig or heading East for Maks and Peta’s supersized celebration, Carrie Ann posted birthday photos from her own fiance Robb Derringer’s birthday bash, then later mugged for an Instagram selfie which shows she’s in Hawaii.

As far as celebrity guests go, Peta Murgatroyd and Maks Chmerkovskiy snagged Val Chmerkovskiy’s champion DWTS partner Rumer Willis for their bash—in fact, she was part of the wedding party. Peta’s winning partner, Nyle DiMarco, was also spotted in pics from the Chmergatroyd wedding, while DWTS alum Candace Cameron Bure, who was, interestingly, Team Hough member Mark Ballas’ celeb partner on season 18 of the show, was also in attendance.
