Super Junior Sungmin Not Joining Group’s Comeback Due To Outraged Fans, Another Member Accused Of Sexual Abuse

Super Junior member Sungmin will not be joining his band’s highly-anticipated comeback this October, it has been announced.

Following reports that Sungmin would be absent for the upcoming “SMTOWN Live World Tour VI” concerts in Korea and Japan, SM Entertainment finally confirmed that the K-pop star will no longer be part of Super Junior — at least in their impending major comeback in the music scene.

In a report by allkpop, it has been revealed that the 31-year-old singer wrote a heartfelt letter to his fans expressing his apology for his decision to withdraw from Super Junior. The controversial artist also addressed the issues he had encountered recently.

The news outlet shared a copy of Sungmin’s letter, which was also posted on his social media accounts. In his personal message, the “Sorry, Sorry” singer opened up about his regret for causing trouble and misunderstanding to his fans, particularly about his unexpected wedding.

Sungmin admitted in his letter that he was inconsiderate for not setting a clear communication between him and his fans. He also revealed that he was not truthful to their fans, who never failed to support the group for over a decade.

The Super Junior member also admitted his desire to be a part of the band’s comeback. However, due to a large number of fans who were outraged by his decision to suddenly get married, he opted not to make any participation in Super Junior’s comeback — all for the sake of the band’s success in their upcoming album.

It can be recalled that Super Junior has been on hiatus for two years. The announcement of their comeback drew various reactions from their fans, especially after Sungmin’s controversy.

Reports revealed that many of Super Junior’s fans objected Sungmin’s supposed inclusion in the group when they return later this year. Apparently, their avid fans still can’t get over his decision to get married amid the band’s hectic schedule.

His marriage in 2014 with musical actress Kim Sa Eun was strongly opposed by his bandmates and management. There were claims that Sungmin’s choice of prioritizing his wedding over Super Junior and their projects at that time angered many of their fans. They felt that Sungmin cared less about them on his decisions.

There were also claims that his departure from the group is a decision made by his talent agency due to the outrage of their huge fan base. SM Entertainment was quick to dismiss the rumors, adding that they fully accept Sungmin’s decision and that they will support him in his future activities.

Meanwhile, the controversy involving Super Junior and its popular members might be far from over. Recently, reports revealed that an unidentified member of the group is speculated to be a prime suspect in a sexual assault case.

According to sources, two men were involved in a police report following the complaint of a woman who claimed to be sexually abused. One of the offenders is allegedly a member of a famous K-pop group.

Although thorough investigations are yet to be fulfilled, the man codenamed as “A” is said to be a member of Super Junior.

As of this writing, no names were hinted yet and Super Junior has not released an official statement about the issue.
