Nadia Lockyer, Wife Of Former California Attorney General, Arrested On Battery Charge
Nadia Davis Lockyer, the wife of former California Attorney General Bill Lockyer, has been arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery on a spouse.
Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence in Twain Harte at 10:55 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, to investigate reports of a seemingly intoxicated woman who was yelling and throwing things.
Nadia Lockyer, 46, was formerly employed as a supervisor of Alameda County and is the wife of Bill Lockyer, 76. Bill Lockyer also previously served as the California Treasurer and led the California State Senate in the 1990s. CBS reports Ms. Lockyer’s blood alcohol content was 0.22 percent at the time of her arrest.
According to the Union Democrat, Tuolumne County Sgt. Andrea Benson indicated there was a report that Bill Lockyer received a minor injury as a result of the incident.
Nadia Lockyer was booked into custody at the Tuolumne County Jail upon her arrest, but the Sacramento Bee reported Lockyer was released at about 9 p.m. on Thursday after she posted the $5,000 bail.
Bill and Nadia Lockyer have endured a difficult relationship after being married in 2003 when Bill Lockyer was serving his first term as California Attorney General.
In March 2017, Long Beach police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. The police report named Nadia Lockyer as a suspect, but no victims were named. The report was turned over to the city prosecutor.
Nadia Lockyer was arrested in August 2012 on charges of drug possession, being under the influence, child abuse and endangerment. In that incident, Orange County police responded to a home where Lockyer and her 9-year-old son were visiting a relative. Police found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Lockyer went to a rehabilitation facility after those charges were made and the charges were later dropped.
In April 2012, Nadia Lockyer resigned her position on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors in response to a scandal involving sex and drugs.
The couple has also faced admitted and accused infidelities. Nadia Lockyer admitted to having an affair with a man she met in the rehabilitation facility and later accused Bill Lockyer of having an affair with a woman who once worked for him. Earlier this week, Nadia Lockyer made a post on her Facebook page in which she accused Bill Lockyer of assaulting her and abusing prescription drugs.
Bill Lockyer filed for divorce in 2012, but withdrew his petition in 2013, indicating he hoped they could reconcile their differences. The Sacramento Bee reported that Nadia Lockyer gave birth to twin boys in December 2015.
