Brazilian Football Team Sport Clube Gaúcho is facing a massive scandal after a masturbation video of three first team players went viral. A fourth teammate taped the three football players mutually masturbating in the team’s dressing room. The club has subsequently terminated these four football players’ contracts and has released various statements to the press. The club president, Gilmar Rosso, told the press that the reasons for terminating the players’ contracts were twofold. The players were fired because the video was filmed on Sport Clube Gaúcho’s property, and they wanted to save the foursome from humiliation and embarrassment at the hands of fans and opposition players from other football teams.
According to Total Pro Sports, the club president sacked the football players with immediate effect after the masturbation video was leaked and went viral. A Spanish newspaper describes the masturbation video by reporting that it shows one of the first-team players mutually masturbating two of his teammates in the club’s locker room, while the fourth team player captures the event on video. The identities of the players involved in the masturbation video scandal have not been released as the club has decided against making their names public. Until one of the players involved in the masturbation scandal in question decides to identify himself, the motives or explanation of their locker-room masturbation activities will remain a mystery.
Rosso has not held back his opinion of the masturbation video. He told the press that he deleted the masturbation video after playing it because he thinks that it’s disgusting. Rosso distinguished between what happens during the club’s business hours and what the players do in their free time. He said that during the football players’ free time, they are free to get drunk and explore their sexual identity as the club is not a watchdog for the football players’ morality or manners. Rosso explained that he needed to make a decision because the masturbation video was made inside the locker room during a football trip. During a later interview, Gilmar Rosso clarified that the decision to rescind the football players’ contracts was not only because it occurred on the club’s premises, but also to prevent jeers and insults from supporters.
“When I hit play, I deleted it, I think it’s disgusting.”
“Outside business hours, we have nothing to do with the situation. If they want to get drunk, (be) gay or not, that’s their problem.
“What I have to answer as president is during a trip, office hours. That’s my responsibility.
“The club is not a keeper of morals and good manners. The only thing we have to answer to is the making of the video inside the club dressing room.”
Bleacher Report states that Sport Clube Gaúcho hails from the city of Passo Fundo, and the team plays in their local league’s third tier in the Río Grande do Sul state in the south of Brazil.
The motive for the masturbation video remains unclear. Why would Brazilian football players risk their career and then film it? Why would they get involved with co-workers when sexual harassment suits have become so commonplace? One thing is for sure; the public will be watching to see which four faces are missing from the team photo at the next game.
