Drew Barrymore Introduces Daughter Olive To The World

It’s been nearly two months since actress Drew Barrymore welcomed her daughter Olive into the world. It looks like two months was enough time for the new mommy to get acclimated to motherhood, and is now ready for the world to see her daughter Olive for her first close up. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Barrymore posed with Olive for the cover and the feature story, which focuses on the joys of being a first-time mother.

However, it wasn’t a breeze for the usually lax Barrymore. The actress and producer said the first two weeks were pretty nerve wrecking.”I couldn’t eat or sleep for two weeks, I was just so nervous!” Drew married her husband and art consultant Will Kopelman last June after announcing her pregnancy.

It wasn’t all about Olive though, Barrymore also spoke with PEOPLE about her need to have a family, which isn’t surprising seeing as though the actress came from a huge acting legacy with its fair share of troubles:

“I really wanted a wonderful traditional home for my kid. Will comes from a strong family, he provides a strong family. It just makes me so emotional because it’s like a miracle.”

Even though Barrymore was keen on having a normal family in Hollywood, no one could quite prepare Drew for how much responsibility she would feel once Olive arrived. “You have the highest highs and yet you’re facing the biggest fear of, ‘How do I keep someone alive?'”
