Birth of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s second son is set to be the next big announcement from the Duggar family. But before they announce the arrival of the newest member, the family is keen on teasing fans.
Though Jill and Derick did not opt to keep either the gender or the name of their child a surprise like Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald did with Henry, the baby’s arrival is eagerly expected as Jill is likely past her due date in early July. The couple announced earlier they would call their son Samuel Scott. Fan forums discussing the Duggars are abuzz, with many wondering if Jill had already given birth.
The Duggar daughter had said in the past that she would like to give birth at home, but after she underwent an emergency C-section to deliver Israel two years ago, a home birth may seem unlikely this time. Jill had also been missing from recent Duggar family photos, including those clicked at a zoo where Derick was seen with Israel. To trigger excitement, the Duggars and Dillards have been posting images of the couple’s first son, Israel, possibly to keep people glued to news about the birth.
On Thursday, the family hinted Jill was ready to become a mother for a second time, again through an image of Israel.
The caption accompanying the image elicited reactions. Fans said they were ready for Samuel Scott’s arrival and wanted to know the date of baby’s birth. Some also noticed that Israel was sitting in a baby seat, which proved more than enough to suggest the Duggars might be teasing to draw out the excitement.
“He looks ready! So big he is:) when is Jill due?” asked a fan, voicing a question that many other fans.
Derick Dillard’s throwback Instagram post from last week led some to believe that Counting On star had already given birth. The image showed Derick in the hospital with a newborn Israel, but some had overlooked the caption, triggering confusion. The Duggar family posted another image of Israel a few days ago that led to questions about Jill Duggar’s due date. Some followers speculated that Israel was with his grandparents as Jill was giving birth. This Fourth of July Instagram post from Jill, however, revealed she still is due.
In the run-up to her delivery, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard drew criticism for traveling while heavily pregnant. The couple went on a getaway to Missouri before their second child arrived. Jill then revealed she went on a trek and climbed 700 stairs less than two weeks before the due date.
