Aaron Rajman, an MMA fighter known as “The Matzoh Brawler” in the ring, was shot in his home on Monday night, July 3. Reports confirmed that he later died of his injuries.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office stated that several men entered the home of Rajman at 22700 block of Southwest 65th Terrace in Boca Raton, Florida at around 10:24 p.m. and an argument ensued. The MMA fighter was later shot and the perpetrators fled the scene.
Rajman just turned 25 last week and his death came as a big shock to his neighbors, family, and friends.
“This was a special young man who had a heart of gold,” co-director of the Chabad of West Broca, Rabbi Zalman Bukiet, told WPTV. “It is a tragedy and extremely painful for the family; painful for everyone who knew him.”
Miami fight promoter and friend of Rajman, Dave Zalewski, further narrated that everyone felt sickened and at a loss for words for what happened. He went on to say that his late pal was “the most humble guy around who never talked bad about people.”
Aaron Rajman was a devoted Jew and well-loved by many people in his religious community. For many years, he contributed to his group by teaching kids at a Jewish school. Also, a week prior to his death, Aaron shared his know-how and skills for disarming an attacker using the ‘Krav Maga’ techniques with the Palm Beach County policemen.
For his life as an MMA fighter, Rajman trained with the American Top Team in Coconut Creek since he was 16. He has been competing under featherweight class and had an amateur record of 8-1. Professionally, his record was 2-2 after losing to Luis Raul Gomez Alvarez on May 7, 2016, his last fight.
Aaron Rajman’s friends have set-up a GO Fund Me page in an effort to solicit donations for his funeral. Sam Pollack posted that part of the funds will go to Aaron’s mother, Lauren, who was left devastated though she never shows it. Pollack stressed that Lauren would never ask anyone for anything but they would like to help her in any way they can.
Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing and no further information about the shooting is available. The motive or reason for the killing is still unknown.
