GameStop-exclusive Xbox 360 controller ain’t got no alibi, it’s ugly

You know how you can pick up a standard Xbox 360 Wireless Controller and a Play & Charge kit for $70 at GameStop? Well, what if I said you can pay the same amount of money for a far uglier version of the same thing? What? Exactly. You’d punch me in the face.

On that note, Major Nelson has revealed that Microsoft and GameStop have “got together” to design this exclusive limited edition Wireless Controller. The fruits of this unholy union are pictured above. Microsoft mouthpiece Nelson describes it thus:

“a new design which sports black carbon fiber with red accents.”

When I hear the word “accent,” it makes me think of something subtle, maybe a little understated, yet still sleek and a bit hip. This controller is anything but subtle, understated, or those other adjectives I just used. It’s fugly.

If you do yearn to own this (why?) when it comes out Monday, it’ll be sold (with a matching Play & Charge kit, for $70) through GameStop, EB Games and Micromania retailers in the U.S., Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand.
