Amanda Hawkins, Mom Who Let Two Toddlers Die In Hot Car Overnight, Said They Could ‘Cry Themselves To Sleep’

Amanda Hawkins, a 19-year-old mom who let her two toddlers die in a boiling hot car while attending a party, reportedly “got physical” with the girls, aged 1- and 2-years-old.

She was reportedly aware that the girls were in the car but refused to get them out of there.

Amanda Hawkins, who is facing two counts of abandoning or endangering a child, left her two daughters in a baking hot car overnight while attending a party nearby.

Addyson Overgard-Eddy, 2, and Brynn Hawkins, 1, were abandoned in the car for more than 15 hours and were exposed to 90-degree heat, which ultimately led to their deaths.

The Daily Mail reports that Amanda Hawkins, of Kerrville, Texas, had previously gone to parties where people were taking drugs, and the deadly June 7 incident was apparently not the first time the 19-year-old mom had left her daughters in the car for hours.

A close friend of the reckless mom told the publication that Amanda Hawkins would oftentimes “get physical” with the toddlers if they cried. Sierra Talley, 20, revealed that the 19-year-old mom would “get physical” with her daughters whenever they “did something wrong.”

The disturbing information comes amid no-less-dreadful reports by the Washington Post that Amanda Hawkins was aware that she had left her toddlers in the car and refused to get them out of there.

Authorities said that at one point of the evening, while Amanda Hawkins was partying at her friend’s house nearby, someone heard the toddlers crying inside the car and asked the mother if everything was okay.

Kerr County, Texas Sheriff W.R. “Rusty” Hierholzer revealed in his interview with the publication that Amanda Hawkins had allegedly told the witness, “they’ll cry themselves to sleep.”

“She [Hawkins] said, ‘No, it’s fine. They’ll cry themselves to sleep.'”

But it looks like the toddlers cried themselves to death in that boiling car when Amanda Hawkins left them there for 15 hours with no food or water.

A former friend of the mom revealed to the Daily Mail that she had previously left the toddlers in the car while attending parties that involved people taking drugs. Sadie Harwood, 20, said she’s “not totally surprised” that the girls died like that.

“People have been worried about those kids for a while and she has left them in the car before.”

But Amanda Hawkins, who reportedly has a history with drugs, is not the only troubled parent of the dead toddlers, as the elder daughter’s father is a convicted meth dealer.

The father, Austin Overgard, 21-years-old, is currently undergoing a stint in a jail rehab facility. The younger daughter’s father is Isaac Hawkins, 19, who was even married to Amanda Hawkins for a year and a half.

Their marriage reportedly fell apart when Amanda Hawkins cheated on Isaac with a 16-year-old.

On his private Facebook page, Isaac reportedly wrote, “I hope she rots in hell” for leaving his daughter in the hot car overnight. The two fathers, Overgard and Hawkins, both have drug arrests.

Amanda Hawkins could have saved her daughters after getting back to her car after 15 hours, but police believe the 19-year-old mom had delayed getting medical help for fear of getting into trouble.

By the time the toddlers were taken to hospital – at around 5 p.m. on June 7 – it was too late. The Bexar County, Texas Medical Examiner’s Office told People Magazine that a final determination of the toddlers’ cause of death won’t be available for up to 12 weeks.
