Conor McGregor Vs. Floyd Mayweather Is On With Huge Contractual Conditions


The speculation surrounding a match, between UFC star Conor McGregor and boxer Floyd Mayweather has been raging for months. For fight fans, McGregor vs. Mayweather has the potential to be the fight of the century, but at times it has seemed that the fight would never happen. The fight has the potential to be the richest in history, with many claiming that Mayweather vs. McGregor has a net worth of over $1 billion. The purse for the fight is not being disclosed, but it is rumored that both fighters will receive a considerable boost to their net worth.

If McGregor vs. Mayweather is worth over $1 billion, then McGregor could be set to double his net worth. According to The Richest, McGregor has a net worth of over $22 million, but his wealth is eclipsed by Mayweather who has a net worth of $340 million. Mayweather was also involved in the match that gave the fighters the biggest payday in history. When Mayweather preserved his unbeaten record against Manny Pacquiao, in 2015, the Mirror reports that Mayweather’s share of the purse was $180 million.

Incredibly, the Daily Star recently claimed that McGregor wanted a $100 million purse to take on the undefeated Mayweather. However much Mayweather and McGregor earn from the fight, at least we now know that the fight is happening on August 26, at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.

Now that McGregor vs. Mayweather is happening, it is being reported that some very strange conditions have been added to McGregor’s contract.

What Conditions Have Been Added To The Conor McGregor Vs. Floyd Mayweather Contract?

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor will be a boxing match. One would therefore assume that the fight will take place according to the rules of boxing. According to USA Today, the fight contract expressly forbids McGregor from kicking, or using his elbows, against Mayweather.

Of course, McGregor is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter. Using his feet, shins, knees, and elbows, is natural for McGregor. His body is conditioned to use all the physical weapons at his disposal. Muscle memory, and natural instincts, could easily take over when McGregor fights, but his contract now forbids him from doing so. Given that the fight will not contain any aspect of MMA fighting, it is likely that McGregor will be disadvantaged against Mayweather whose entire career has been fought according to boxing rules.

There is no doubt that Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather will be seen as a showdown between boxing and MMA. Fight fans are desperate to see which sport comes out on top. Whatever the outcome of the fight, both McGregor and Mayweather will walk away with a significant boost to their net worth.
