‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Star Kim Zolciak Raises Money For Stray Dogs During Vacation

Kim Zolciak-Biermann and her family recently took a vacation to Turks and Caicos where they did more than enjoy the scenery. The Real Housewives of Atlanta reality star started a crowdfunding account after discovering stray dogs near her rented beach house earlier this month.

Kim took to social media to share numerous videos on Snapchat as she showed her followers the plight of the dogs. Zolciak and her crew first discovered the dogs, which included what appeared to be a female with puppies, as the animals slowly made their way to the vacation house. There, Kim and her kids fed the dogs as they cautiously crept closer and closer.

Kroy Biermann, Kim’s husband, even attempted to locate the puppies as the adult dogs seemed to keep the babies hidden in some bushes. Her friend Tacey Bloom, who was also along for the trip, then contacted local animal shelters as they sought to provide as much aide to the stray dogs as possible.

So far, over $3,000 has been raised towards the $10,000 goal in support of Potcake Place in Turks and Caicos. According to the YouCaring page, the animal shelter is doing its best to help the island’s homeless dogs with the limited resources available. Any money donated to the cause will go towards hiring veterinarians to spay and neuter animals, as well as help with adoptions.

A June 7 update from Tracey states the two dogs seen in Kim’s Snapchat videos have been caught and taken to the shelter for veterinary care. Bloom stated the goal is to get the dogs, which turned out to be a 1-year-old female and a 6-month-old male puppy, neutered and boarded before they’re able to be placed in a permanent home.

Zolciak’s eldest daughters Brielle and Ariana have also shared updates on the stray dogs via social media. Fifteen-year-old Ariana posted a photo of herself holding one of the dogs as she stated she misses the pooch.

Kim also shared Ariana’s image as she stated the family’s love for animals is “real” and directed followers to the YouCaring link in her Instagram bio. While 20-year-old Brielle Biermann did not share photos of the dogs, she did post the link to the donation site in her bio as well.

Zolciak’s younger children were seen petting the dogs in her Snapchat video despite one of her sons recently undergoing surgery following a traumatic dog bit. People magazine reported on 4-year-old Kash Biermann’s excitement over meeting the stray dogs while in Turks and Caicos.

“Their 4-year-old son Kash was bit by a dog in April that sent him to the hospital and in danger of losing his eyesight in his left eye.”

Before readers criticize Kim for allowing her son to get close to an unknown dog following his injury, People magazine stated the mother of six was quick to put safety first. Zolciak had her kids stay back until the dogs were comfortable enough to walk up to them.

Kim informed Kash the stays were nervous and to be careful when it came to giving them space.

“You guys back up. Do not get too close. [The dog] gets very nervous, she’s very nervous. Back up you guys, she’s very nervous. Please back up. Kash.”

The Zolciak-Biermann family’s love of animals is apparent in many social media posts Kim shares as her kids can be seen pettings dogs and puppies. It seems not even a traumatic dog bit injury is enough to stop Kim and her crew from helping animals in need.
